SANBORNVILLE:  Profile Bank presented the Wakefield Food Pantry (WFP) $1,000.00 to support their ongoing efforts to serve individuals and families in the Wakefield and Brookfield area.  The Wakefield Food Pantry was established in 2004 as a not for profit 501(c) (3) organization to provide emergency three-day per week food for low income residents of Wakefield and Brookfield.  While providing a low cost means for the towns to carry out the intent of the NH statute that requires towns to care for their poor, WFP is fulfilling their vision to have a hunger-free community.

The WFP serves between 50 – 60 families per week, including children, disabled and elderly.  The volume is steadily increasing especially in the ranks of the elderly.  Of the population served, 44% are children.

The current home for the Pantry is in the Parks and Recreation Department on 132 Meadow Street in Wakefield.  With an increase in demand, they are forced to increase their space and functionality therefore, they will be building a 42X48 metal building on land owned by the Town of Wakefield and will be leased for 99 years to the Pantry for the cost of $1.00. The land is currently being prepared for the construction with the hope of a new home for the Pantry before snow arrives.  The $150,000 project will be funded through a combination of $50,000 in capital contributions from local and seasonal residents and businesses, as well as a 2 to 1 $100,000 matching grant provided by a philanthropic foundation. Profile Bank is providing bridge financing as the foundation grant will be funded over a 4 year term.

True to the Bank’s commitment to help local charities, Profile Bank took advantage of the opportunity to show support this local project.
